Joomla hosting · optional, never required

One address for the site and the server.

When something is slow, or a page is white, or an update needs PHP 8.3, there is no conversation between your developer and your host about whose fault it is. It is the same person, and I already have access to both sides.

Joomla-tuned hosting on Hetzner in Germany, offered to clients whose sites I build or maintain. It is always optional — plenty of my clients stay where they are and that is completely fine.

Without it — the usual loop
  • Site is slow. Developer says it is the host.
  • Host says the site is badly built.
  • You relay messages between two companies.
  • Nobody has access to both halves of the problem.
With it
  • You write to one person.
  • That person can see the logs and the code.
  • It gets fixed or you get a straight answer why not.
Three reasons, and no others

Why host with me rather than a big provider

I am not going to tell you my hosting is faster or cheaper than Hetzner's own — it runs on Hetzner. What is different is who answers, and what the server is set up for.

One person responsible

The person who built or maintains your site also runs the server it sits on. No support ticket that starts with explaining what Joomla is, and no finger-pointing between two suppliers when something breaks.

Configured for Joomla, not for everything

PHP version, memory limits, execution time, upload size, cron, staging and backups set the way Joomla actually needs them — instead of a shared-hosting default that has to suit WordPress, Magento and a Python app at the same time.

German data centre, European latency

Hetzner, Germany. Inside the EU for data-protection purposes, and physically close to visitors in Serbia and the rest of Europe — which is worth more to your Core Web Vitals than any caching plugin.

The specifics

What's included

One plan, sized for a business website rather than for a price comparison table. If your site needs more than this, I will tell you and quote it separately instead of quietly throttling you.

WhatIncluded
Storage10 GB SSD — a typical Joomla business site uses under 2 GB
Monthly trafficUnmetered
PHP versions8.1 – 8.4, switchable per site — Joomla 6 ready
DatabasesMariaDB, unlimited, phpMyAdmin and remote MySQL access
SSL certificateLet's Encrypt, auto-renewed, included
EmailUnlimited mailboxes on your domain, IMAP/POP3/SMTP, spam filtering — or none at all if you use Google Workspace
BackupsDaily, automated with JetBackup — and you can restore a file, a database or the whole account yourself from the panel
StagingStaging copy set up on request for testing updates
CachingLiteSpeed Cache, configured for Joomla
Control panelDirectAdmin — full access, it is your account, not a window into mine
Also includedCron jobs, DNS zone editor, hotlink and directory protection, AWStats, Softaculous, log access
Data centreHetzner, Germany (EU)
DomainRegistration and renewal handled if you want it, registered in your name

On a care plan I also take my own Akeeba backup to storage outside this server, and test that it restores. Two independent copies in two places is the only backup arrangement worth calling one.

Hosting — standalone

For sites I built or maintain, where you would rather have one supplier for everything.

from€9/ month

Billed monthly or yearly · RSD invoicing for Serbian clients

  • Everything in the table above
  • Migration of your existing site included
  • No setup fee
  • Cancel any time, backup handed over
  • One site per account, so nothing else on the server is competing with yours
  • You can restore yesterday's version yourself, without waiting for me

Being straight about it

What one-person hosting is, and what it isn't

If you are comparing this against a provider with a 24/7 support desk, here is the honest difference, so nobody is surprised later.

No 24/7 phone desk

I answer within one business day, and same day for care-plan clients. If your business genuinely needs someone awake at 3am, a managed provider is the right choice and I will say so.

No lock-in, ever

Leave whenever you like. You get a full Akeeba backup and the database, and I will help your next host bring it up. Hosting is not how I hold on to clients.

Your domain stays yours

Registered in your name, not mine, even when I handle the renewals. You keep the registrar login. This is where a lot of small agencies quietly trap people.

It is a reseller account, not my data centre

The hardware and the network are Hetzner's, and they are considerably better at that than any one person would be. What I add is the configuration and the fact that I answer.

Questions

Frequently asked

Do I have to host with you to work with you?

No, and it is not a condition of anything. Most of the sites I maintain live on the client's own hosting and always have. I offer this because some people would rather have one supplier, not because I need you to move.

Can you move my existing site over?

Yes, and it is included. Migration happens onto the new server first, you check it on a temporary address, and the domain only switches once you are happy with what you see. Downtime is minutes, usually none.

What happens if I want to leave?

You get a full Akeeba Backup file and a database dump, and I will stay on the thread while your next host restores it. No exit fee, no hostage-taking.

Who owns the domain?

You do. It is registered in your name with your details, and you keep the registrar account, whether or not I handle the renewals for you.

Is my data in the EU?

Yes. Hetzner's data centres in Germany, so hosting sits inside the EU for GDPR purposes. Backups stay in the EU too.

What is your uptime?

The infrastructure is Hetzner's and their published availability is what applies. I do not quote a number of my own, because a one-person reseller offering an uptime guarantee is offering something they cannot actually enforce.

Thinking about it as part of a bigger job?

Most people end up here while planning an upgrade or a new build, and hosting is the last piece rather than the first. If that is you, start there — hosting is a two-minute conversation once the rest is decided.
