Joomla Connects

Joomla is a CMS with enormous potential — a flexible system, easy to extend and customize. But there’s one special quality that isn’t often talked about enough: "Joomla connects." I didn’t give that catchphrase much thought at first, but over time, I’ve come to realize just how true it is.

Working with Joomla, I’ve learned the importance of building strong relationships with clients and delivering each project to the best of my ability. Being a Joomla freelancer can be tough — especially at the start of your career, when confidence is low, experience is limited, and reliable clients are hard to come by. In those early days, I had to hunt for projects and send out endless proposals just to land one opportunity.

A collaboration

It was during that period that I first got in touch with Daniel, a Frenchman who offered me collaboration on one of his projects.

Although we hadn't met in person, our online communication was smooth, and despite the usual ups and downs, we successfully completed the job. Then came another project, and another, and another. I was finally spared the stress of constantly chasing new clients, and Daniel was happy with the work I delivered.

JoomlaDagen

In early 2023, I received an email from Daniel inviting me to the Joomla conference in the Dutch city of Tilburg, where he would be one of the speakers. I gladly accepted — it was a fantastic opportunity to finally meet my long-time collaborator in person.

The conference itself was incredible. I met some of the top developers in the Joomla world — professionals with impressive careers and amazing projects behind them. It felt great to be part of that community. Thanks to Daniel, I truly felt like I belonged.

I listened closely to his presentation about the TemplateJoomla project, which is an outstanding contribution to the Joomla ecosystem. I even offered a few suggestions of my own, and the project was very well received.

The other talks I attended helped sharpen my skills and deepen my understanding of Joomla development.

Cheers to friendship and projects to come

After the lectures, we celebrated with some cold Dutch beer.

That’s when I got to know Daniel on a more personal level — and I left with a bag full of positive impressions and unforgettable memories.

Joomla Truly Connects

That’s when the phrase really hit home: "Joomla connects." It’s not just about code — it’s about people.

P.S. If you ever find yourself sharing a room with Daniel, a word of advice: get a separate one. An earthquake is nothing compared to his snoring!
